EU PARLIAMENTARY DIRECTIVE TO CONTROL FOOD SUPPLEMENTS – THE BEGINNING OF THE END OF HEALTH FREEDOM

The tag team assault on health freedom by controlling food supplements has been on going in Europe and America. (Please read the attachment article). The European Union has issued EU Parliamentary Directive to control food supplements to regulate them strictly like drugs – meaning manufacturers have to show proof of safety (eventhough nutrients have been ingested since time memorial and that those nutrients are naturally occuring in foods. Isn't it ridiculous?). The EU Directive only allows 15 nutrients in the possitive list, meaning all other nutrients like lysin, selenium and other amino acids and minerals which are not in the possitive list will not be allowed to be marketed. The implementation of this EU Directive is 1 August 2005. While control of food supplements is necessary to some extend, the Directive is bound to curb health freedom, free choice of food supplements in the market, introduce only the low dosage, ineffective, and confined to only the 15 nutrients as listed in the possitive list.

The Alliance of Natural Health is now challenging this Directive in the European court.

In the USA, the DSHEA (Dietary Supplement and Health Education Act 1994) gives more health freedom as compared to Europe. Even this is currently being attacked. A new Bill is being introduced in the Congress to amend the Act with the intention to harmonise it to that of the EU Directive. The US National Academy of Sciences, Institute of Medicine (IOM) has already issued documents suggesting producers of food supplements show proof of safety and beneficial effects. When gradually being implemented, the laws in USA and Erope will be 'harmonised'. In the end the pharmacuetical drug therapies will enjoy full monopoly, and wipe out any competition from natrual therapies which are cheap, effective, and even scientifically proven.

In our countries in South East Asia, only the long tradition of using natural therapies is holding back the Big Pharma onslaught. In Malaysia, the entire market of food supplements last year is RM$3 billion, which is twice the market for pharma drugs. BUT…

Please be aware that the assualt is already beginning. PR campaign to disseminate negative information on food supplements to confuse and nuetrallise any possitive reports on them, are already underway. Just read the unending loads of negative reports on food supplements in our news media. This is called psychological warfare. It is to prepare the public acceptance of a near future governmental introduction of legislations to curb freedom of choice for food supplements and hence our health freedom, all camouflaged using the call for the need of consumer protection. In the months to come, perhaps within the next one year, we in Malaysia and South East Asia will also be 'harmonised' to the European and American legislation, to curb usage of scientifically proven natural therapies and food supplements. From then onwards, only GOD can help us.

Our Society of Natural Health in Collaboration with Dr Rath Health Foundation, will from now embarked on a project called 'Media Watch'. Media Watch will point to the editors and journalists their errors and misinformation on the science of nutrients. We in the Dr Rath Health Foundation will put on notice those people who intentionally suppresses scientific information and as a result of which causing deaths among the people. Confusing the public by suppression of scientific truth is genocide. This is particularly true when science has already proven that cardio-vascular diseases can be cured.

We want to put on notice that those people who intentionally suppresses scientific information, intentionally confuse the public, and hence resulting in causing deaths by chronic diseases, their names will be added to our ICC (International Criminal Court) list.
